The History of the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skatepark:
The Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skatepark originally established in October of 2010 is located at the Brentwood YMCA (8207 Concord Road Brentwood, TN 37027). In May of 2010 a devastating flood took place in Middle Tennessee. The Brentwood skatepark was over 10 years old and in need of repair, during the flood the park was completely under water, making the need for repair and renovation even more prevalent.
The LeVasseur family approached the Middle Tennessee YMCA after the flood and asked if they could rebuild the Brentwood skatepark in Alex’s name. After a total of five months of planning and working to make this happen, including four weeks of park closure, the new and vastly improved skatepark, designed by Donny Myhre of the Franklin Skate Shop, opened on Sunday October 24th 2010 with an official Ribbon-cutting Celebration.
Due to generous donations from local businesses, as well as volunteered help, including a volunteer based demolition of the old skatepark, the Alex LeVasseur Fund was able to say thousands of dollars on the overall project.
In the Summer 2023 The Brentwood Family YMCA underwent a massive renovation. We have always dreamed of Alex’s park being a concrete park. The skatepark was redesigned by New Line Skateparks with support from Donny Myhre. Aside from the Alex Fund support and our generous donors the Taco Bell Foundation and Ferdowsi Family were instrumental in helping this project reach completion.
The newly designed concrete skatepark was re-opened with an official Ribbon-cutting Sunday August 4th.
