Alex Le’Vasseur Memorial Scholarship
Alex LeVasseur had a passion for skateboarding. There was nothing he loved more than learning and perfecting a new trick. Alex was a friend to everyone he met. He gave his all to everything he did and lived his life to the fullest. We hope this scholarship program will help to pass on this great gift Alex had. This is not only about a love for skating, but a love for life as well. Be a friend to everyone, and make the most of each moment.
The Alex LeVasseur Skate Scholarship Program is designed to create a motivational environment for young adults through skateboarding. We target students who are in need of incentives and mentors to help them improve their grades and/or behavior. And we provide them with the tools and mentors to help them succeed. These students will be given a current evaluation by their teachers and/or school counselors and will be instructed to set specific goals for the end of the year in regards to their grades and/or behavior. In return for their effort to reach their goals, each student will be given skate gear, open skating sessions and will be eligible for summer camp. A member of the Skatepark will be assigned to the student’s. They will act as mentors, making sure the students show up at the park for their scheduled skating sessions, monitor behavior, as well as motivate the students to reach their goals. At the end of the program each student who achieves their goal or makes a significant effort will get to go to summer camp and will get to keep their gear. The students that reach their goals will in turn be eligible to be picked for the opportunity to attend the Tony Hawk Benefit Event out of state.
